I started working in the constituency office and then got the opportunity to work in the parliamentary office. I specialised in immigration and spent a lot of my time ringing up UKBA and helping people with correspondence with the ministerial department.
If I reflect on what I have done and where I am now and what I have learnt I can see that my degree has helped me a lot. I wouldn’t be able to do what I do now without some of the skills I learnt in the module. Especially, how to research effectively and find primary sources but I’m still learning as well. The work experience and the degree go hand in hand.
