Two months at the International Cooperation Section of the Senate Chancellery, Hamburg

I was involved with preparing events with the City of Hamburg, its partner cities and countries, organising events such as diplomatic training courses from Ethiopia and Asia, handling correspondence for senior civil servants, and writing draft of speeches for the First Mayor.

Internships are great eye-openers and I recommend for everybody to do as many as you can!

During my two-month internship, I developed the necessary skills and experience to come a step closer to my desired career working in the development (human rights) sector. The internship allowed me to combine my theoretical knowledge with real life experience, thus, I highly recommend everyone to do internships starting from the first year of your degree. Nowadays employees are looking for people with both a degree and work experience. Internships are the best way to start off and are also a great way of getting to know whether you can see yourself working in that area.

The internship has also helped me in terms of getting accepted at UCL for a MA in Human Rights. I think it was a good selling point on my application.
