Parliamentary Outreach at Houses of Parliament

The main role was to encourage political engagement between the public and parliament. There was a lot of research into putting on events with relevant individuals. The aim was to show people how they could inform legislation or bring about change or become more involved generally in parliament decision making.

It helped my dissertation (individual study) particularly as I gathered a lot of relevant information. It’s also good to see in reality what goes on because it is sometimes different to the theory. It is a case of seeing how the system works in reality, it’s helpful.

Now that so many people have degrees you do need to have something which distinguishes you from everybody else. Also when you get there I think it will help you because you will have experience of what it would be like to work in that environment already. So I think it is definitely an advantage in terms of getting the job in the first place.
