Georgia Outteridge

I studied Politics and International Relations at Canterbury Christ Church University between 2012 and 2015 and my degree has helped my career in many ways. I was able to adapt my learning and my modules around my interests, which have always been rooted within the EU and the charity sector. I was able to focus my studies around the European Union and my dissertations around human rights and fundraising within the UK. I gained a first in my dissertation; “Giving in an age of Austerity” which explored the struggles that UK based charities must go through during straitened economic conditions.

During my time at university I also worked within the Students Union as the Charity and Fundraising Executive. I organised a sponsored skydive which raised £6,326.81 in support of Alzheimer’s Society, where I am now working as a fundraiser. I am certain that my time at university not only opened my eyes to what it was that I was passionate about but it gave me the time and support that I needed to gain the experience and skills to enable me to be where I am today.
