Juniper Networks: Boot Camp

Canterbury Christ Church University was pleased to welcome Juniper Networks, to deliver a 2-day training course on computer networking fundamentals on 15th and 16th of May 2017.

The course was designed for the computing students who may have an interest in industry accredited computer networking certification. Juniper is the second largest manufacturer of computer security devices in the world. The two days event was Juniper instructor-led, training combined content from Introduction to the Junos Operating System (IJOS) and Juniper Routing Essentials (JRE) topics to provide students with an understanding of the Junos OS, networking fundamentals, and basic routing and switching.

"Was a very informative experience and a good opportunity to earn some certification whilst still at University"

Christopher Bamber - Computer Forensics and Security Year 2 student

Throughout the two days, there were hands-on demonstrations and exercises, students gained valuable experience in configuring and monitoring the Junos OS and monitoring basic device operations. More importantly, students were encouraged to keep up with the rapidly changing industry and  were taught to recognise and leverage similarities across computer security technologies.

"All of the speakers were engaging, insightful, humorous and knowledgeable. I have thoroughly enjoyed this intensive experience and would highly recommend it. Thank you so much for organising this."

Christopher Pitt - University Instructor in Computing, Digital Forensics & Cybersecurity

After completion of the training, students will have a chance to undertake either the JNCIA-JUNOS internship and certification in their own time.

"Creating industrial partnerships with global technologies drivers are essential for computing and engineering students, and would provide opportunities for dual qualifications and consequently leads to better employment prospects, “ It is certainly a unique selling point for our programmes and it creates differentiation in this highly competitive climate”

Mr Reza Mousoli Director of Stakeholder Engagement

"An internship is a great way to gain the experience required and discover what a particular role is like. Without these skills or experience, it can be difficult to demonstrate their suitability for the role."
