Ruby Berkeley-Cornner

Ruby Berkeley-Cornner completed an internship with our Tourism and Events Research Hub, working in collaboration with Visit Kent, on a project for the Kent Hospitality, Tourism and Transport Guild.

The project looked into the business perceptions of work placement opportunities for young people, looking at their skill requirements and the barriers and benefits of providing work placements for young people in the visitor economy.

As part of her internship, Ruby conducted desk research into existing resources about work placements and also developed an online survey which aimed to assess the perspectives of local businesses.

This paid placement has proven a great benefit to Ruby who has developed her transferrable skills and has gained valuable work experience that will make her stand out in the jobs market.

'The internship has given me an opportunity to develop my skills and my confidence working in a professional environment.'
