Profile summary

Richard Pole has been bringing ideas to life through the development and delivery of projects for more than 20 years. He is a lecturer in Tourism and Events within the school of Human and Life Sciences, teaching project management theory and best practice. He has spent much of his career specialising in geo-science projects, working at the interface between education and business. From 2003-2008 he developed and managed two large €3.4M pan-European projects based at CCCU, delivering software, resources and training to teachers across the region. He also founded and ran his own GIS software company which evolved out of his research. In 2009, the business was acquired by Esri UK and for the next three years Richard project managed the successful integration of the business into Esri.

In the last few years he has developed research interests in arts tourism. He is also a researcher in the COaST research group (Cultural Offers at Seaside Towns), working with Turner Contemporary in Margate, analysing exhibition exit surveys. This is now the focus of his thesis for his Masters in Research.
