The aim of this module is to develop your skills in seeking and obtaining a work placement , internship or a piece of research or consultancy work for a business.

The module means you will learn what is needed to help you secure a position with a company, as well as developing your skills in learning from work experience and applying academic learning to the workplace.

The value of work-based learning

  • Allows you to gain expertise and experience in a particular role or occupation.
  • Chance to get involved with a live project on behalf a business
  • Allows you to apply academic subject knowledge in a work setting.
  • Develops practical, work-related skills such as project management, decision making, negotiating skills and teamwork.
  • The module also develops your knowledge and understanding of the recruitment process and how to achieve success in your applications for this module and when you graduate.

Students please note: it is your responsibility to find the opportunity but we have a dedicated employability manager to offer ideas, support and help in organising your opportunity

Please refer to the programme handbook for details of the module.

'The module has given me a greater understanding of the recruitment process for students and I feel far more confident and ready for when I start making graduate applications. My work experience enabled me to gain 5 weeks in a marketing agency that I wouldn’t have sought if I hadn't chosen to complete this module.'
