In this masterclass, students will critically examine the content and context of Geoffrey Chaucer’s Prologue to the Canterbury Tales.

In this fast-paced one-hour masterclass with an academic and/or ambassadors, students will critically examine the content and context of Geoffrey Chaucer’s Prologue to the Canterbury Tales. Students’ will deepen their understanding of 14th century literature in four stages. Firstly, through an examination of language and life in 14th century England; secondly through an exploration of the importance of universal themes of spring, renewal and hope; they will explore the creative spelling of Middle English before finally developing their understanding of the wider context of the pilgrims.
