Through this masterclass, students are invited to consider the strengths and pitfalls of consequentialist ethics.

Through an interactive one-hour masterclass, with an academic and/or Postgraduate ambassadors, students are invited to consider the strengths and pitfalls of consequentialist ethics. Students will develop their understanding of the social and political context in which utilitarianism was developed and start to consider its relationship to deontological accounts. Students will apply their understanding to a range of ethical situations and have opportunity to consider the role of secular ethics, such as utilitarianism, in society today.
