Dr Zanda Serdane

I am a Senior Lecturer in tourism, hospitality, and events in Christ Church Business School.

I joined CCCU in 2016. Prior to my appointment at CCCU, I designed and delivered tourism and marketing related modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level in the UK and Latvia.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant I earned my PhD in 2017 from the University of Salford, UK. My PhD research dealt with slow travel and tourism, and the application of slow philosophy in destination marketing and management.

My research interests include slow travel and tourism, destination marketing and management, travel experiences, and tourism policy implementation.

I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I currently lead the following modules:

Marketing Principles and Practice for Tourism, Events, Sports and Hospitality (level 4)

Introduction to Hospitality (level 4)

and Visitor Attraction and Venue Management (level 6).

 

I also teach on the following modules:

Individual Study (level 6)

Individual Dissertation (level 7)

 

I have previously taught on:

Level 4: Introduction to Events

Level 6: International Events; Tourism, Leisure and Events Marketing

Level 7: Contemporary marketing for Tourism and Events

I have developed my expertise in slow movement, its underlying slow philosophy, and slow travel and tourism which is a promising area of research.

I aim to extend my research into slow movement, focusing on Slow Food and its accessibility.
