Historically I have taught many technical modules, such as networking, cryptography, operating systems, computer systems, logic, HPC, concurrency and intelligent systems.  Course-wise, I have introduced the computer science aspect (data intelligence) to CCCU computing suite as well as math, as the founding program director of the computer science BSc degree.

My research in the past has been centred around distributed systems, networks, signal processing and algorithms – currently my PhD students are working in the fields of distributed intelligence for the use in drones and sentiment analysis on images.

Research Projects

  • DISTRIBUTED SWARM INTELLIGENCE FOR LARGE SCALE DYNAMIC DATA CAPTURE AND ITS ANALYTICS. Researcher(s): Mr Oliver Prior. Supervisor(s): Dr Vijay Sahota, Dr Hannan Azhar, Dr Scott Turner. [Postgraduate Research Project]
  • Research the specification to streamline forensic analysis investigation of mobile phones and new mobile devices under police investigation. Researcher(s): Mr Anthony Murray. Supervisor(s): Dr Vijay Sahota, Dr Mandy Qi. [Postgraduate Research Project]

In the past I have worked with the NGS, to provide grid compute services nationally via interconnected universities.  I have also collaborated across many universities under the banner of e-Science/ Impedance tomography.
