I graduated from Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) in 2000 and have extensive experience across both clinical practice and higher education. My clinical background is in the acute sector, with specialist expertise in critical care and acute medicine.
Throughout my career, I have held a range of roles, including Practice Placement Facilitator, Adult Nurse Lecturer, and, most recently, Practice Learning Quality Lead within the School of Nursing, Midwifery, Allied and Public Health. As a Practice Placement Facilitator, I led a student placement expansion project, successfully increasing placement capacity in response to national workforce targets and a commitment to delivering high-quality, collaborative learning experiences. This work involved building strong partnerships with practice learning environments and key stakeholders to create sustainable placement opportunities that supported both student development and workforce growth. The success of this work led to my appointment at CCCU, where I have continued to focus on the expansion and diversification of placement opportunities across health and social care settings. I am a fully trained Schwartz facilitator and have experience in facilitating Schwartz rounds at CCCU.
In my current role as Practice Learning Quality Lead, I support the development, quality assurance, and enhancement of practice learning environments for students, practice assessors, practice supervisors, and educators. My responsibilities include leading the preparation and development of Practice Assessors, Practice Supervisors, and Academic Assessors, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to effectively support and assess learners in practice settings. Working collaboratively with practice partners and academic colleagues, our team is committed to delivering high-quality practice learning experiences that positively influence student outcomes, professional development, and the sustainability of the future healthcare workforce.
