Mrs Vicki Bowyer

Senior Lecturer in Nursing (Nursing Associates)

School of Nursing

Vicki is a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing.

I registered as an Adult Nurse in 2011 and gained experience in Interventional Cardiology, Hybrid procedures, Interventional Radiology, and Clinical Site Management, prior to joining academia in 2021. My most recent clinical role, before joining academia, was as the Interim Head of Clinical Operations for an acute NHS Trust during Covid-19.

After an encouraging time as Placement Lead for the Foundation Degree Nursing Associate course, implementing learning opportunities with Experts by Experience across both years, I have joined the BSc Adult Nursing Course as the Year 3 Lead.

My previous experience setting up a brand new Cardiac Catheter Suite service and training junior nurses with no previous cardiac experience ignited my passion for nurse education. I previously taught across the Foundation Degree Nursing Associate (FDNA), and Registered Nurse Degree Apprentice (RNDA), while also acting as a Module Lead.

I currently teach on the BSc Adult Nursing course, teaching academic modules, as well as Simulated Practice, and I remain passionate about cardiac care and leadership in nursing.

I am a fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I recently undertook a small-scale research project considering student engagement with feedback to improve final assignment submissions.
