Miss Tabitha Smith

I am currently a University Instructor in the Business School, delivering seminars to undergraduate and postgraduate students, assisting with curriculum and module design, providing effective and timely feedback and engaging with students at extra-curricular events. Having graduated from Canterbury Christ Church University in 2021 with a First-Class Bachelors in Business Management (Hons), I have worked in Digital Marketing; both in social media, website development roles and on a freelance basis. Alongside being a serial entrepreneur, I have previously been employed as a Business Lecturer in Further Education before starting my new academic journey at Christ Church. I am also a PhD Scholar, investigating the impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) on the Further Education sector (FE), creating a training manual for educators to improve operational efficiency. I am a part-qualified accountant and look forward to engaging with the Postgraduate Diploma in Academic Practise (PGDAP) in March 2025. 

I teach on both Undergraduate and Postgraduate modules; examples include Intercultural Leadership and Employability, Introduction to Marketing and Managing People in Organisations. I pride myself on delivering engaging sessions and building a strong rapport with students from all backgrounds to employ a compassionate teaching pedagogy. Having previously taught in Further Education (FE), I have a strong background of creating and delivering interactive sessions rooted in technology and accessibility. In 2024 I was also delighted to have been awarded the runner up award for Most Engaging Teaching at the CCCU Golden Apple Awards.

I am currently studying towards my MPhil/PhD investigating Artificial Intelligence in Further Education. I also have further research interest in entrepreneurship and innovation, sustainability and gender studies. 

In addition to my role at Christ Church I also sit on the Industry Curriculum Advisory Board at Colchester Institute and offer my digital marketing and website development services on a freelance basis.
