Mrs Sonia Price

Senior Lecturer and Academic Sessional

School of Nursing and School of Nursing

Sonia is a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing, and Arts and Health, and a Senior Research Fellow in the Sidney De Haan Research Centre.

I have been teaching at Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) since 2012, and I am currently Module Lead for the Arts in Health (MSc Mental Health & Wellbeing) module, and the Music for Wellbeing (BA Music) module. I also supervise students studying the MSc in Health Care Practice.

My clinical background includes acute medical, emergency, and palliative care nursing, and sixteen years as a Practice Nurse with a respiratory specialism.

I am a Senior Research Fellow with the Sidney De Haan Research Centre for Arts and Health, with a special interest in researching the value of the arts in health and embedding arts and health into curricular.

I teach across the following courses:

  • BSc Adult Nursing
  • MSc Adult Nursing
  • MSc Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • BA Music/Commercial Music

In addition, I supervise students undertaking their MSc research projects and preparatory module.

My research interests are largely focused on exploring the value of the arts (singing, music, drama, etc...) for people living with long-term health conditions, and implementing community-based arts interventions within social prescribing.

I am Musical Director for Folkestone Singing for Health and the Shorncliffe Military Wives Choir.
