Dr Shola Osinaike

I am the Section Director for Tourism, Hospitality and Events

I am a Principal Lecturer in Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management at Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) with over 14 years of working in two Universities in the UK. I have a Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). I hold a PhD in Business with Hospitality Management from the University of Plymouth, MA in Hospitality Management from the University of Wolverhampton and a BSc (Hons) in Accounting from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria.

Before joining CCCU, I worked as visiting lecturer at the University of Wolverhampton for four years. I have experience as an operation and finance manager of fast-food restaurants for over 15 years. My experiences in the hospitality industry enhance the contextualisation of my teaching and research.

I continue to engage with hospitality academics and practitioners. I am a Member of the Institute of Hospitality (MIH), British Academy of Management (BAM) and the named representative with the Council for Hospitality Management Education (CHME).

I would be interested to hear from students considering pursuing PhD studies in hospitality management. service management, strategic management, performance measurements and sustainability.

I have extensive experience managing and developing undergraduate and postgraduate courses in tourism hospitality and events management curricula. I have led and taught across a range of modules including:

My teaching and research interests include strategic management, hospitality performance measurement, revenue management, and service quality.

Previous research includes sustainability practices and revenue management in hotels. The research focused on pricing strategies, customer segmentation and demand forecasting.
