I have had over 20 years' experience teaching in universities, principally at Royal Holloway, Strathclyde University and the University of Glasgow, before moving to CCCU in 2014.

My work has included directing Pre-sessional, In-sessional and Foundation programmes, and credit-bearing English courses for visiting students. I have taught on undergraduate & masters degrees. I am also an accreditation assessor for BALEAP, the professional association for teaching academic English.

At CCCU I have taught on the MA in TESOL, the BA English Language & Communication, the PhD Pre-sessional programme for the Algerian government, the International Foundation Year, and the General English programme.

I direct the summer Pre-sessional EAP course and the International Foundation Year.

MA/Diploma TESOL: options in Discourse & Sociolinguistics, and Intercultural Issues in Language Teaching

BA English Language & Communication: Exploring Language (Year 1), Intercultural Communication 1 & 2, Business Communication & International Business Communication (Year 2 & 3).

My interests include Syntax, Phonology, Discourse and their relevance for EAP and HE more generally.

I am an assessor on the accreditation scheme for BALEAP (the professional association for teaching academic English: https://www.baleap.org/accreditation). This is a quality assurance and enhancement scheme covering the provision of English for Academic Purposes in institutions within BALEAP.
