Mrs Rebecca O'Brien

Clinical Academic Fellow

School of Nursing, Midwifery, Allied & Public Health

Rebecca is the Course Director for the Occupational Therapy BSc (Apprenticeship) and a Senior Lecturer across both Occupational Therapy courses.

I qualified from Canterbury Christchurch University in 2009, and had a varied clinical background in intermediate care, neurological rehabilitation, community mental health and social care. I love the variety of occupational therapy as a profession.

I joined the teaching team in 2021, and have since become a Senior Lecturer and Course Director for the Occupational Therapy Apprenticeship. I am passionate about occupational therapy and its transformative capabilities for individual and social change. I have a particular interest in the use of therapy animals to promote engagement in occupation and improve wellbeing.
