I am currently a Lecturer in Public Health and teach across both undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. Before starting my lectureship with the Public Health team, I had worked as a research fellow at CCCU since September 2019. I have worked across multiple research projects of national and international importance here at CCCU, including the Community Areas of Sustainable Care and Dementia Excellence (CASCADE), Mechanised Orthosis for Children with Neurological Disorders (MOTION), and Assistive Devices for empowering disAbled People through robotic Technologies (ADAPT). Prior to starting at CCCU I worked as a research fellow at St George’s, University of London and completed my PhD in Health and Social Care Sciences in April 2016. In addition, my undergraduate degree was in Psychology (clinical route) and my master’s degree was in Psychiatric Research.
My research interests include the care and wellbeing of older people, voluntary sector services, interventions for informal carers and people living with dementia, care home research, and research exploring the experiences of minority populations, such as the LGBTQ+ community and racialised minority groups. I have expertise in mixed methods research and conducting high quality systematic reviews for publication in international peer reviewed journals. Alongside my research and teaching responsibilities, I am a member of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Social Care Ethics Panel. I am also involved in developing both internal and external funding bid applications with colleagues across the Faculty and externally to CCCU.
