Mrs Rachel Larkins

Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing

School of Nursing

I have worked at the University for 4 years and in that time I have worked with students across many programmes from the Foundation Year to Masters.

I have a BSc (Hons) in Adult Nursing, and I am a HEA Fellow and I am working towards my MA in Education. I lecture on a variety of adult nursing modules across the Nursing Associate, Adult Nursing and Foundation Year courses, including simulation. I am the Lead for the Student Council and support students joining via clearing who have a delayed start with CCCU. I am the Module Lead for the Negotiated Learning level 6 and 7 Module.

I have been the Personal Tutor for many groups across the Nursing Associate and BSc courses, providing advice and support. I work closely with colleagues on module design and teaching together with marking and supporting students with resubmissions. I undertake recruitment for the University across both the Adult Nursing and Nursing Associate courses.

As a Link Lecturer, Personal Tutor and Academic Assessor, I meet with both the students and their Practice Assessors (Mentors) on a regular basis, review their progress and ensure support is in place together with action plan creation as necessary. I ensure I build a rapport with both my students and their employers/placement providers, based on trust and mutual respect. This enables me to gain an understanding of their needs holistically, so an honest and accurate assessment can be undertaken.

I have lectured at CCCU for 4 years.
