Okey Okonkwo

Dr Okey Okonkwo

I joined CCCU in September 2012 and I am now the course director of BSc Human Resource Management course.

I joined CCCU in September 2012 as a lecturer in the business school. I hold a PhD in Business Management with specialisation in Organisation and Management, and a MA in Human Resource Management, both from the University of Hamburg, Germany.

I also hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching (PGCLT) and is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA)/Advance HE.

Prior to joining CCCU, I worked in HR consulting and training & development within the private sector as well as taught human resource management in the university sector.

I am an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). I have a particular interest in strategic human resource management and development.

My teaching focus is on human resource management, organisational behaviour, and general management.

I have also developed expertise in the areas of strategic and international management, particularly on issues relating to people management in organisations.

I currently teach Human Resource Management, Employee Development & Employee Relations, Leadership & Management, and Business Simulations. 

My research interests generally relate to 'strategic issues in human resource management and development', and he is currently working in the following areas:

  • Organisational learning, knowledge, and innovation
  • Talent Management
  • Corporate Sustainability and Human Resource Management

I am a member of Sustainability Research Group (SUSTAIN) within the Business School, and also a member of British Academy of Management (BAM), where I hold a membership in a number of special interest groups such as HRM, Knowledge and Learning, Inter-Organisational Collaborations (Partnerships, Alliance and Networks) and Sustainable & Responsible Business.
