He was the overall winner at the 2017 Chief Allied Health Professions Officer awards and was awarded an MBE in the 2022 New Year’s Honours list for services to radiography.

As a reporting radiographer I have clinical expertise in reporting CXRs, and my role educating CXR and MSK reporters including reporting radiographers and trainee radiologists gives me insight into the needs of the future workforce. I have established effective and efficient mentorship at scale for CXR interpretation education; my pilot work was adopted by HEE London and I have been clinical director for the programme since inception in 2018, adapting to include radiology trainees in 2019.

Research interests & Supervison

Do you want to do a research degree? Are you interested in Medicine, Health and Social Care or related topics? Then I would be pleased to hear from you.

I have experience with diagnostic accuracy, lung cancer and artificial intelligence research. My doctoral research was the first study to directly compare the diagnostic accuracy of consultant radiologists and reporting radiographers when interpreting CXRs. The results of my PhD established that radiographer CXR reporting is accurate, safe and effective and can contribute to additional diagnostic capacity. My postdoctoral programme draws together strands on lung cancer, imaging AI and diagnostic workforce. Working with health economic colleagues, data from my doctorate was used to model the cost-effectiveness of radiographer reporting of CXRs for lung cancer.
