Before joining CCCU, I worked in East Kent in mental health recovery services in inpatient and community settings and my teaching and research currently reflects this interest in recovery. My career in mental health started in my home town, York, in the late eighties and has spanned the full range of mental health services and included a spell working in Australia.
I am currently the pathway director for the BSc programme in Mental Health Nursing and the professional lead for Mental Health Nursing at CCCU. My teaching includes mental health recovery at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and teaching about mental health to other health and social care pathways. I am also an NMC registrant reviewer.
I have co-authored a couple of book chapters and am currently working towards a PhD looking at the role of mental health service users in contributing to the development of empathic practitioners.
