In 2017, having obtained a First-Class Hons degree in Applied Practice in Health and Social Care at CCCU, I was delighted to accept the role of Health and Care Engagement Lead after 12 years of working in the NHS as an Associate Practitioner in a School Nursing Team.
My role (which also includes an academic post - teaching on the Foundation Year) predominantly involves building partnerships/stakeholder relationships with both NHS Trusts, schools and colleges across the county, raising awareness of careers in Health and Social Care and supporting routes into the professions. I develop and deliver audience-targeted content for events and sessions to encourage interest in, or enhancing, Health and Social Care as a career and carry out Health and Social Care careers focused workshops in schools and colleges. I also lead on the Co-Branding project with local colleges, working closely with the Health and Social Care students to support their progression to university by delivering a programme of activities to support their applications and arranging activity visits in the simulation suites:

In response to the Covid pandemic, I returned to the NHS as bank staff in the role as a Band 4 Vaccinator to support the vaccination programme rollout.
I completed my Masters in Health and Wellbeing in 2021 and became a Module Leader on the Foundation Year in 2022.
I am an advocate for Higher Education and careers in health following my NHS career and my positive experience as a mature student at university, and embrace the opportunities to work with young people, adults and students to help them achieve their full academic or career potential.
