Mrs Katie Taenas

Lecturer

School of Allied and Public Health Professions

Katie is a Lecturer in Public Health.

I am a Lecturer within the Public Health team at Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU). I was awarded a BSc in Geography and Public Health and a MSc in Public Health by CCCU before working within Infant Feeding support services within Kent, supporting women and their families to breastfeed. I helped create Beside You, a breastfeeding initiative within Kent. Following this, I began my current role in November 2020.

Consequently, my specialist areas of interest lie within Women and Children's Health, in addition to Sustainability and the Changing Climate, and the impact this is having on health within local and global contexts. As a result of this, I enjoy leading on our first-year Environment and Green Health module, in addition to a third-year module on Global Health. I also enjoy leading on Introducing Academic Skills to our first-year students, which provides the academic building blocks for their degrees. In addition to this, I module lead on our second-year Mental Health and Wellbeing in the Workplace module, and am a seminar lead on a range of first and second-year modules. I also supervise third-year and Masters-level dissertations.
