Dr Kate Foxwell

Academic Sessional

School of Psychology and Life Sciences

Kate Foxwell is a Clinical and Academic Tutor on the Clinical Psychology doctoral programme, responsible for coordinating the Older People and Professional Roles and Identity teaching. Outside of Salomons she works as part of a research team on a study exploring early markers of dementia.

After qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist from Canterbury Christ Church University in 2009, Kate has worked primarily for the NHS within services for older people, with a focus both on mental health and wellbeing in older age, and memory concerns. Systemic and community approaches, mindfulness and Cognitive Analytic Therapy are all models of interest, as well as the neuropsychology of ageing. Kate is an active member of the Faculty for the Psychology for Older People (FPOP) within the British Psychological Society.

Travel has had a significant role within Kate’s life particularly over the past few years, and alongside themes around ageing, she is particularly interested in attachment to place, and relationships between external environments and internal wellbeing.
