I am a registered adult nurse, senior lecturer in nursing, researcher and professional nurse advocate.

I am a registered adult nurse, senior lecturer in nursing, researcher and professional nurse advocate. I began my career with a nursing degree at the University of the West of England in Bristol, and have worked in a range of settings and locations, including Cambridge and Brighton within the UK, and also internationally in New Zealand and Malawi. My clinical experience includes neurosurgery and ENT and maxfax. I hold two Masters degrees - in Anthropology and in Health Studies and Education. I completed a PGCE in health and social care education in 2000 and have held various roles in nurse education since this time. Currently I am the deputy director for the Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship course at CCCU, and also a student on a professional apprenticeship for research.

I teach on both pre registration and CPD courses across a range of subjects. This includes a nursing and social justice module, study skills and the professional nurse and midwifery advocate module. I am also personal tutor to a group of student nurse apprentices and enjoy this role.

My research interests include health related inequalities, nurse education, and the promotion of well being in staff and student groups. I am currently completing the final part of a professional apprenticeship in research, and involved with several research projects including: The experience of nursing students with disabilities; Understanding Motherhood in Higher Education; and What works, for whom and in what circumstances in supervision for healthcare professionals undertaking a master's dissertation.
