Miss Julie Perkins

Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy

School of Allied and Public Health Professions

Julie is a Lecturer in Physiotherapy.

As a graduate of the Robert Gordon University as a Chartered Physiotherapist, I have developed my evidence-based practice through my enthusiasm for applied anatomy and physiology. Having also advanced my own learning pathway through studying for my Sport Science Degree together with my MSc in Orthopaedic Medicine, I have a dynamic and self-motivated approach as a musculoskeletal specialist.

Establishing Bourne Physiotherapy enabled me to develop my own work practices and clinically lead professional networks with external agencies from the public and private sectors, such as GP practices and medico-legal organisations. My abstract and innovative drive to apply my practical and theoretical specialist knowledge and clinical reasoning skills allowed me to educate my patients constructively adding value to my practice.

Recognising the importance of incorporating research in health science, I have always aspired to develop academically. I have acted as interim Course Director for CCCU's BSc Hons Physiotherapy course and advancing towards a Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy (module lead, PAT). I also fulfil the Recruitment Lead role.

My career opportunities have included completion of my PGCAP (Post Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice) and development of a Postgraduate programme (relevant to Physiotherapy). Recently, I have also achieved the 2022 UTEA (University Teaching Excellence Award) Early Career Award and was awarded a 2022 Golden Apple Award for Exceptional Teaching and Support from CCCU student nominations.

I am currently a MPhil/PhD student.
