Joanna is currently working on a practice based PhD researching the roles of animation and augmented reality in exploring evolving identities associated with a breast cancer diagnosis. In May 2023, Joanna held an interactive exhibition across two galleries in Kent, showcasing a number of augmented reality, animation and digital art pieces based on her research topic.
A previous research project investigated whether an augmented reality trail was an effective tool to engage students with learning. The trail across the CCCU Canterbury campus helped students and staff engage with a range of sustainability topics. The findings were disseminated at the HEA Advance HE Teaching & Learning Conference 2018.
