I trained as a Registered General Nurse at Guy’s Hospital and qualified in 1995. I then worked in the orthopaedic unit at Lewisham Hospital for a few years before undertaking a Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education at Greenwich University (PGDip HE) in 2000. Over the next fifteen years, I worked in various education posts within the acute hospital setting, supporting students and nurses to develop within their clinical roles. This included working as a clinical skills coach at Lewisham Hospital, a practice development nurse for Surgery and Orthopaedics at Bromley Hospital (now the PRUH) and as a practice placement facilitator at Medway Maritime Hospital. During this time, I undertook an MSc in Professional Leadership in Healthcare at King’s College London, completing in 2004. I started as Senior Lecturer in CCCU in 2016, teaching students on a variety of professional courses from undergraduate to postgraduate students and completed a Doctorate in Education (edD) at King’s College London in 2018. I am also the Course Director for the BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing course.
