Dr Jacky Claydon

Lecturer in Policing

School of Law, Policing and Social Sciences

I joined CCCU as a lecturer in 2022 and I am the Deputy Course Director for the BSc in Professional Policing.

I previously worked for Kent Police for 25 years as a police officer and a member of police staff. I recently completed a PhD at the University of Kent where I explored the nature of expertise in forensic fingerprint examination.

Currently I am the module lead for:

  • Introduction to Study Skills and Contexts Within Justice Specialisms,
  • The Law and Politics of Policing, Decision-Making Theory and Practice in Policing, and Evidence Relating to Criminal Investigation.

Whilst studying for my PhD, I was also an Associate Lecturer at the University of Kent in the field of psychology at BSc and MSc level.

I am interested in expertise in forensic fingerprint and forensic facial examination, the potential use of new technology in policing and police well-being.
