Hi my name is India and I am a qualified mental health nurse, previously graduating from CCCU. I have worked in various settings, mainly the Early Intervention in Pyschosis Service. I was awarded an internship by the NIHR to complete postgraduate studies in Clinical Research, where I developed my knowledge in participatory inclusion and Patient and Public Involvement in research.
I have developed a wide range of skills throughout my clinical practice, including training to deliver group CBT for Psychosis, Bipolar and other interventions such as compassion focused therapy and DBT. I developed creative therapeutic groups and green space interventions within the services I worked in, championing creative therapeutics and alternative ways of working.
I have a passion for advocating for others and providing them the confidence and voice to advocate for themselves.
I have a wide range of experience supporting neurodivergent individuals and those with a Learning Disability within Mental Health Services - publishing a review looking at the impact of autism and learning disability education for healthcare staff. I bring a valuable insight as a neurodivergent nurse who has extensively studied the role of an expert by experience.
I hold a Facilitating Trainer and Autistic Co-Trainer registration with Health Education England to deliver Teir 2 OMMT to NHS and social care staff in England.
I teach across the combined course for BSc Nursing.
I am particularly interested in women's health, gender inequality and power dynamics within our sociopolitical environment.
I am also a circus artist and aerial / circus coach, teaching aerial arts to children and adults. I sit on the board of directors for Simia Circus CIC, a community focused circus school who provide alternative schooling for children with special education needs.
Poetry and creative writing have always been important to me, and I am pleased to be invited in to co-produce the Poetic Nursing Heart (a CCCU blog) with Dr Tom Delahunt.
I am enthusiastic about ensuring students have a safe, nurturing and innovative environment to learn, grow and develop in order to obtain their degrees and more.
