Mr Ian Mackay

Senior Lecturer

School of Nursing

In 2013, Ian joined the CCCU Mental Health & Learning Disabilities Team. He had been working with people experiencing mental health issues since 1987.

I have practiced in a variety of professional roles including Social Care, Mental Health Nursing, Care Coordination, Multidisciplinary Leadership and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

My academic interests are located within the cognitive behavioural formulation of the development and maintenance of psychosis and the implications of this for providing interventions that are individualised, congruently aligned and collaborative. My teaching responsibilities are a reflection of these interests and include cognitive behavioural interventions, continuing professional development, leadership and collaborative practice.

I qualified as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist in 2011 and am a member of the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy. I am also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy; an NMC Registered Mental Health Nurse; and a member of the Royal College of Nursing.
