Since working at CCCU, I have held team and School roles of Academic Lead for Social Work Placements, Course Director for the BA (Hons) Social Work course and Interprofessional Education (IPE) Lead. I commenced my current role as Head of Social Work in August 2025. I am passionate about social work education and ensuring our students feel part of a compassionate community of social work, both locally, nationally and internationally. The focus of my role is to lead and develop the Social Work courses at CCCU, ensuring that the voice of students, practitioners and people with lived experience of social work is central to the development of an innovative and contemporary social work curriculum.

My main academic interests are critical discourse in adult safeguarding, student retention and engagement, simulation and interprofessional education.

I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Authority.

I am currently module lead for the Level 4 Social Work in Context module on the BA (Hons) Social Work course.

My research interests are related to critical discourse in adult safeguarding.

I am the Co-chair of the British Association of Social Workers (BASW) Kent Branch and have been an elected member of BASW England Committee from 2019 to 2021. I am a member of the Joint Universities Social Work Association (JUSWA) Education Committee. I have delivered training to social workers in Belarus in 2013 and 2016.
