I have been a qualified Social Worker since 2007, having worked as an Adult Social Worker on a Community Learning Disability Team, Younger Person's Physical Disability Team and Adult Locality Team for a council in the north-west of England. I became an academic in 2014, working as a Practice Learning Lecturer at the University of Manchester and then joining the social work team at CCCU in 2020.
Since working at CCCU, I have held team and School roles of Academic Lead for Social Work Placements, Course Director for the BA (Hons) Social Work course and Interprofessional Education (IPE) Lead. I commenced my current role as Head of Social Work in August 2025. I am passionate about social work education and ensuring our students feel part of a compassionate community of social work, both locally, nationally and internationally. The focus of my role is to lead and develop the Social Work courses at CCCU, ensuring that the voice of students, practitioners and people with lived experience of social work is central to the development of an innovative and contemporary social work curriculum.
My main academic interests are critical discourse in adult safeguarding, student retention and engagement, simulation and interprofessional education.
