Emily is Course Director of Childhood Studies at Canterbury Christ Church University.

Emily is Course Director of Childhood Studies, both Foundation degree and BA Top up. She is a Senior Lecturer in Childhood Studies. Emily has SFHEA. Emily has taught across the School of Teacher Education on Education Studies and Early Childhood Modules as well as on the MA Education.

Emily has taught across the School of Teacher Education on Education Studies and Early Childhood Modules as well as on the MA Education. She taught the Sociology of Childhood and Education at University of Kent and led modules on MA courses in Sociology. 

'Emily's research interests are the ways children and young people are engaged in giving, volunteering and social action through educational experiences of citizenship and civic education. Emily is also interested in social inequalities and the way children and young people’s experiences can be determined by gender, class and race. Before joining academia, Emily worked for non-profits and charities in the UK and overseas and this also informs her interest in global communities.
