I have been at CCCU since 1995. I have worked mainly in developing professional policing programmes for police officers in the UK and beyond.

I have been at CCCU since 1995. I have worked mainly in developing professional policing programmes for police officers in the UK and beyond.

I am interested specifically in the legitimacy of the police. I have been involved in the Oxford University Press' Blacktone's Handbook for Policing Students since its inception (currently working on the 18th Edition) and I have been the lead editor for the past three editions.

As the Head of School I am responsible for leading the developments across a range of courses and activities relating to Law, Policing, Politics, Criminology, Sociology and Forensic Investigation.

I have taught mostly on policing modules but I have also taught on politics and criminology modules in the past. My role as Head of School limits my capacity to teach but I supervise a number of PhD students.

My research interests are mainly related to moral and political aspects of police work. My research is predominantly philosophical in approach. I have published on police education, police ethics and police legitimacy.
