Mrs Clare Stow

Senior Lecturer

School of Teacher Education

Based in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Education

After completing a degree in psychology and a career as a class teacher in primary schools for 12 years, I made the move to working in ITE at CCCU. My main interests are primary history, social justice and inclusive teaching practices. I have been lucky enough to lead modules in all three areas.

I am currently the Foundation Subjects Lead across the primary courses.

I am the primary committee member for the History Teacher Educators Network, developing links between other ITE providers nationally to discuss our teaching of primary history, current research, knowledge exchange and curriculum thinking.

I am currently underatking research with a focus on diversity in the history curriculums of Kent schools, where I am looking at both primary and secondary schools in our local area, along with a colleague fom the secondary history team.

I am also currently studying for an EdD in education, focusing on diversity throughout primary schools

I am excited to be presenting this year at the HA conference (May 2022) as part of the ITE strand, discussing my work in developing learning conversations between students and mentors in primary history classrooms.
