Miss Claire March

Claire March has worked at the University since 2008 when she joined the Primary education department to support the ITE provision for Priamry Science. Since then she has returned to her former passion of supporting the Primary ITE relating to the teaching of Art and Design. Previouly to this she worked as a Primary Teacher in Kent since 1997.

With relation to teaching my subject expertise is within the Arts and predominately within Art and design. I am currently finishing my MA in Primary Education Art and Design where my main focus has been on the development of Sketchbooks within the priamry classroom.

Currently I have a number of research projects I am working on and these include the following:

  • Mentoring and Coaching in Kent Schools (CLASS project)
  • Art up on the Downs (Dover/Folkestone)
  • Shepway Arts project (funded by Artswork) 2015-16
  • Young Arts Leaders (Sheppey arts education project funded by RoH) 2016-17
  • Sketchbooks how can they support thinking 2015-2016 (MA dissertation)
  • Phoenix Education Trust democratic education (2016)
  • How can iPads support risk taking art (2014)

I currently represent the university as a Director of the Stour Academy Trust which is enables to understand the goverance requirements related to the primary school. I also have present at conferences focusing on my research interests within the Arts.
