Mrs Claire Bebbington

Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing

School of Nursing

Claire is a Lecturer in Adult Nursing within the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Social Care.

I completed my BSc (Hons) in Nursing in 2012. Prior to working at the university, I gained experience working in various acute ward settings including a critical care unit, where I completed Post graduate modules in Critical Care. Since joining the university in 2019, I have completed my Post graduate certificate in Academic Practice and gained Fellowship of Higher Education Academy. I teach across a range of subjects on BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing and Registered Degree Nurse Apprenticeship.

I also act as the Cohort and Practice Lead for the S22 cohort of students on the BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing course, and the Module Lead for Addressing Complexity in Care and a Personal Academic Tutor on the Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship.

Prior to joining the university, I had experience of teaching in clinical settings, supporting student nurses as well as qualified staff. Since starting at the university, I teach across different academic modules on the BSc and Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship courses, as well as simulated practice on the BSc and MSc courses. I have particular interest in acutely unwell patients, complex patient care, pathophysiology and pharmacology as well as practice experience.

I have undertaken a small research project considering first year student nurses' understanding of their professional values. They are assessed again in clinical placement prior to the commencement of any planned placement.
