Charlotte is a Research Assistant at the Sidney De Haan Research Centre for Arts and Health. She completed the MSc Music, Mind and Brain at Goldsmiths, University of London in 2020, with Distinction. This unique, interdisciplinary research programme combined music psychology with neuroscience, focussing on both the biological and cognitive aspects of musical behaviour. She also holds a BA (Hons) degree in Music from the University of East Anglia. Her research interests include music, mental health and wellbeing.
Charlotte has gained significant experience working with diverse groups and individuals and is committed to furthering her interests in enabling inclusivity and making the arts accessible to all. She has worked in participatory arts projects involving communities, schools, vulnerable children and young people with mental health disorders and learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder and Category-C prisoners, with the aims of improving health and wellbeing. Her work as a community musician saw her involved in music outreach projects for children living in deprived areas of the UK to promote and create a safe space for wellbeing, learning and music education. Previous roles have also included arts administration and music teaching.
Charlotte is also a classically trained violinist and has worked as a freelance musician for professional orchestras, events and concerts in the UK and internationally and has been a member of several choir groups. She is also a keen poet, photographer and traveller.
