Ms Caroline Hunter

Senior Lecturer

School of Nursing

Caroline is a Senior Lecturer in Midwifery within the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Social Care.

I qualified as a Midwife in 2008 and spent several years working in community midwifery in Kent and SE London, specialising in homebirth and continuity of care, before moving to an academic post at King's College London. I was Programme Lead for the BSc Midwifery course and Deputy Head of the Midwifery Department at KCL for four years, before joining the midwifery team at Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) in 2021.

My specific interests at CCCU are in teaching and supporting research, having led the undergraduate modules in both Midwifery and Mental Health Nursing, as well as supervising MSc students across the Faculty. I also teach on the Professional Nurse Midwifery Advocacy course and am a qualified Professional Midwifery Advocate.

I gained an MSc in Advanced Practice (Midwifery) at King's College London (KCL) in 2014 and Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in 2015. In Sept 2023, I commenced an Academic Professional Apprenticeship in Research at CCCU and in September 2024 will begin a Doctorate in Education. My research interests are student and staff wellbeing, women's health and health inequalities. I am also a member of the Faculty Ethics Panel.
