Ms Caroline Gibbs

Senior Lecturer

School of Nursing

Caroline Gibbs (RM PGCAP MA ed) is a member of the fabulous Midwifery teaching team at Canterbury Christ Church University.

I began my career in healthcare over forty years ago.  I began as a Trauma and Orthopaedic Nurse.  I then trained to be a Midwife and worked in London, United Arab Emirates and Kent.  I specialised in maternal - fetal medicine and pregnancy loss.  I have been a labour ward lead and was a supervisor of midwives and a matron for many years. I decided to come in to education to help inspire and to teach future midwives.  I enjoyed teaching clinical skills, complex care and also leadership. I especially enjoyed going to work closely with practice partners and see personal students whilst on placement.

Since joining the university, I have gained my teaching certificate, Masters in Education and most recently I have gained my certificate that allows me to be a Professional Midwifery Advocate. Currently I am teaching on the Professional Advocate University Certificate and also Group Clinical Supervision as part of the Nursing Associate course.  I am also a Personal Academic Tutor (PAT) to a group of nursing associates.
