I am a professor working in the Faculty of Arts Humanities and Education, leading a specialised research centre which undertakes mixed methods studies in hard to measure areas of education.
I am Professor of Religion and Worldviews Education and Director of NICER, a University Research Centre focussed in Christianity and education.
I am a professor working in the Faculty of Arts Humanities and Education, leading a specialised research centre which undertakes mixed methods studies in hard to measure areas of education.
Currently I teach Epistemology on the Education Doctoral Program and Ethics to undergraduate students, and I supervise doctoral students. Prior to these roles, I taught on the PGCE Secondary Programme, leading RE for many years. Before that I taught English as a Foreign Language in Istanbul (Turkey) and Toyama (Japan), before teaching religious education in Kent.
I research Religious Education, Human Rights Education, Christian education leading projects such as the Texts and Teachers project, Science Religion Encounters in the Classroom, and co-leading Faith in the Nexus. I also contribute to Worldviews education debates.
I am a trustee of the International Symposium for Religion, Education and Values (ISREV) and also a trustee for Culham St Gabriels Trust. I am in the editorial boards of the Journal of Beliefs and Values, the British Journal of Religious Education and the International Journal for Christianity and Education. I am a non executive board member of the Association of University Lecturers in Religion and Education. I have also published several textbooks for Religious Studies with Oxford University Press.
