I am a lecturer in Tourism, Hospitality, and Events Management at Canterbury Christ Church University.

I completed my doctorate in Business in 2022. My research focused on training and development for management-level staff in the hospitality industry. I earned my MBA (UK) in 2016 and my MA (UK) in Marketing and Innovation in 2014. I obtained my bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in Sri Lanka in 2010. 

I worked in the banking sector before changing my career to the hospitality industry in 2011. I have 12 years of experience in the hospitality industry, starting from the bottom in various roles up to corporate management in a leading pub and restaurant chain in the UK. I am an entrepreneur.

My areas of expertise include consulting on opening new restaurants and cafes, managing restaurant finances, and training staff members in hospitality businesses.

I joined higher education in 2022 at a private college before joining CCCU.

Currently, I teach the following courses for undergraduate students: Accounting and Finance for the Service Industry, Managing Business Performance, Event Staging, Tourism Hospitality and Events Management, Research Project, and SPSS. For postgraduate, I teach Hospitality Resource Management and supervise dissertations.

My research areas include training and development in the hospitality industry, technology enhancement in small restaurants, and food waste management. Currently, I am working on a journal article and a book chapter about food waste management.

I am a motivational speaker who participates in various business events in the UK and Sri Lanka as a guest speaker, focusing on entrepreneurship.
