Mrs Anne Martin

Senior Research Fellow

School of Allied and Public Health Professions

Anne Martin is a Senior Research Fellow in the School of Allied Health Professions, Public Health and Social Work.

As a qualified Social Worker, I pursued practice and a career in academic research. I have co-led and supported several health and social care services and workforce development research projects since joining Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) in 2012. As a Senior Research Fellow, I continue to support the growth of the School of Allied Health Professions, Public Health and Social Work’s portfolio of commissioned research and innovation.

I have held public health research focused roles at Makerere University in Uganda, the World Health Organisation and the UK Department for International Development.

My interdisciplinary research spans critical perspectives on health and wellbeing; and healthcare design and service delivery. I have published on diagnosing and managing rare conditions, healthcare systems design, health and social care workforce development and caring for people living with dementia. My doctoral research examined managing self-diagnosed primary insomnia in a mixed economy. I have a special interest in understanding costs and safety in managing self-diagnosed illness and the overall effect of commodifying self-care on the health of the population.
