I joined CCCU in 2023 as an Academic Tutor, working with the Applied Criminology, Sociology and Forensic Investigation Teams. I have worked in Education providing tutoring and pastoral support to students in both public and private sector organisations, and I hold an MA in Lifelong Education and Professional Practice. My background in teaching covers the delivery of courses providing professional qualifications in counselling, conflict management, IT, online safety, and education and training qualifications for people wishing to teach in the Further Education and Skills sector.
I am a qualified Therapeutic Counsellor and member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). Prior to joining CCCU, I was working with Children and Young Peoples Counselling Service, a Service commissioned on behalf of the NHS, providing solution-focussed counselling to children and young people. A background in family support has enabled me to integrate the biopsychosocial model into my practice, enabling me to work with both brief therapy and long-term models of counselling. With a person-centred approach underpinning all my work, I have a particular interest in the developments in contemporary person-centred theory, in terms of both counselling practice and as a method of supporting the provision of holistic academic and pastoral support to enable students to succeed in Higher Education.
