Mr Andrew Harris

Andrew Harris served as a teacher and governor in primary schools in Derbyshire and Gloucestershire. He then worked as a Senior Lecturer in Primary Mathematics Education at the University of Cumbria where he co-led the Modular/Part-time Primary PGCE pathway and led the Key Stage 2 Mathematics provision. He has completed a Masters degree in Educational Studies, focusing on mathematics education.

He now works as a Senior Lecturer in Primary Education at Canterbury Christ Church University where he contributes to the work of the primary mathematics team, teaching on a range of Masters, postgraduate and undergraduate programmes. Andrew Harris has also served on a number of university and faculty committees, particularly in relation to disability access, learning and teaching, assessment and quality enhancement.

His current research and teacher development interests in mathematics education include the application of variation theory in primary mathematics, the selection, design and sequencing of mathematical examples in teaching, children's mathematical misconceptions and children's problem solving and reasoning skills. He is also interested in teachers' mathematical subject knowledge and has led CPD sessions for serving teachers.

Andrew Harris is a member of the British Society for Research into Learning Mathematics and has presented research findings at BSRLM conferences. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has also served as an external examiner for higher education institutions.
