Senior Lecturer Advanced Clinical Practice

School of Nursing

Alison is a Senior Lecturer in Advanced Clinical Practice and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I am a Registered Nurse and a Registered Teacher, as well as a Senior Fellow of the HEA. Qualifying as an Adult Nurse in 1995, I have held various clinical posts working in areas including; gynaecology, accident & emergency, occupational health, resuscitation training, surgical pre-assessment and site management. In 2013, I became a Surgical Ward Manager and helped open and manage the first surgical assessment unit in the South East of England. Once successfully completing my MSc in Advanced Practice (Acute Adult) in 2015, I then left the NHS and became a full time academic at a London based HEI, teaching across pre registration nursing and paramedic programmes as well as supporting the development and delivery of the MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice and Enhanced Clinical Practice programmes. Since September 2023, I have been working at CCCU as a Senior Lecturer in Advanced Clinical Practice. I am Module Leader for the Advanced Practice Skills module and support the delivery of the leadership and management module. I am also a personal tutor and dissertation supervisor. With an interest in staff mental health and well being, I am currently studying towards a PhD in psychological perspectives which I am due to complete in 2025.
