Dr Alison Gallagher

Associate Head Postgraduate Nursing

School of Nursing

Alison is the Associate Head for postgraduate studies in the School of Nursing.

I qualified as nurse in 1988. Since this time, I have worked in medical wards and ICU. In 2005, I moved to higher education working at Kings College, London. I joined Canterbury Christ Church University in 2015. During this time, I have developed the Advanced Clinical Practice MSc provision. In 2021, I became the School Director for Learning and Teaching, I have now moved to a newly developed role in the school; Associate Head of School with a portfolio for postgraduate studies.

I currently support ACP apprentices on the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice course, including running the End Point assessment. As part of the MSc Nursing team, I am Module Leader and teach on Applied Adult Nursing Practice and Complexity in Adult Nursing Practice. I also supervise students completing their MSc dissertations.

My research interests include impacts of blended learning, technology enhanced education, simulation, ACP.

I am external examiner at Sheffield Hallam for the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice. I am also an external advisor for their EPA. I work with AAPE re EPA.
